* 2 large onions, finely chopped
* 1 ¾ oz bacon, chopped
* 1 leek, halved length ways and sliced
* 8 ¾ oz potatoes, peeled and finely diced
* 5 1⁄3 oz cabbage, quartered and shredded
* 4 ¼ pt vegetable or beef stock
* 14 oz can of chopped tomatoes
* salt and pepper
* 1 large saucepan
* 1 wooden spoon
* 1 ladle
